A Humanitarian Crisis of Unprecedented Scale
Over 61,000 people have lost their lives, including 17,000 children, and more than 111,000 individuals have been injured. With over 14,000 still missing, the humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate at an alarming rate. The region’s healthcare system is nearing collapse, while 90% of homes in Gaza are now damaged or destroyed.
The Medical Emergency
The healthcare system in Gaza is operating under extreme strain, with more than 50 percent of hospitals only partially functional due to continuous bombardment.
- Overburdened Hospitals – Medical facilities are operating beyond their capacity, with critical shortages of essential supplies, equipment, and trained personnel.
- Disruptions Due to Electricity Shortages – Frequent power outages prevent life-saving equipment such as ventilators, incubators, and dialysis machines from functioning effectively.
- Surgical Procedures Under Dire Conditions – Many operations are being conducted without anaesthesia or sterilization due to a lack of essential medical resources.
Basic Household Needs
The relentless bombardment has damaged and destroyed 90% of residences and displaced 1.9 million Gazan’s, often multiple times. The needs are basic yet immense e.g.
- House Repair Kits – simple provisions such as tarpaulins and duct tape are crucial for sealing damaged buildings against the elements and returning rudimentary privacy and dignity to vulnerable families.
- Cooking Utensils and Safe Cooking Solutions – continuously displaced families left everything behind and lack the most basic cookware amongst other household items.
- Energy – without fuel and electricity families turn to unsafe open fire cooking and use phone lights to search for survivors buried beneath rubble. Even these rely on severely damaged solar panels, whilst Israel blocks new shipments.
Amanah Global Relief’s Response
Amanah Global Relief’s Gaza Medical & Household Support Fund seeks to provide both immediate relief and sustainable solutions. Our initiative prioritizes:
- Restoration of Health Services – Supplying medical equipment, fuel for generators and essential healthcare provisions to ensure continued medical care.
- Household Recovery Assistance – Supporting families with shelter materials, household essentials, and renewable energy solutions to restore some degree of normality.
Flexible Humanitarian Response
The Gaza Medical & Household Support Fund is a general fund, designed to provide flexibility in responding to the evolving crisis. Given the rapidly changing situation on the ground, this approach allows us to assess needs in real time and allocate resources where they will have the greatest impact. We do not commit to any single solution but instead respond based on feasibility, accessibility, and urgency.
