In Ethiopia, countless individuals—young and old—find themselves trapped in a cycle of unemployment, not due to a lack of ambition, but because they lack the skills employers demand. The country’s economy is expanding, yet many are left behind, unable to access stable livelihoods. Traditional education alone is not enough to prepare them for Ethiopia’s growing industrial, construction, and service sectors. 

This gap in skills has far-reaching consequences—families remain in hardship, communities face ongoing economic strain, and young people are forced to migrate in search of opportunities that remain just out of reach. 

Alhamdulillah, Amanah Global Relief is taking a proactive step to bridge this gap by establishing a Vocational Training Centre in one of Ethiopia’s largest urban hubs. This initiative will equip disadvantaged individuals with in-demand skills, opening pathways to employment, financial independence, and stability. 

The centre will include:

• Classrooms with essential classroom equipment – providing the tools for effective training
• New toilet facilities – ensuring hygiene and accessibility
• All plumbing & electrical systems – creating a safe learning environment
• A secure perimeter wall & gate – protecting students and staff
• A potential backup generator – ensuring uninterrupted learning 

Skills That Change Lives 

With market research underway, our courses will focus on high-impact, employable skills to maximise job opportunities. Potential training areas include: 

• Garment processing – unlocking employment in Ethiopia’s booming textile industry
• Industrial machinery operation & maintenance – addressing the demand for skilled technicians
• Construction trades – preparing workers for Ethiopia’s growing infrastructure sector
• Electrical installation & repair – training future electricians for urban developments
• Hospitality services – equipping individuals for careers in tourism and catering 

To enhance learning and provide industry-relevant expertise, we are also introducing a skills-sharing programme. Experienced professionals from the UK will travel to Ethiopia to deliver hands-on training, mentorship, and specialised services—ensuring trainees receive high-quality, practical education from experts in their fields.

While focusing on Ethiopia, the final location may be adjusted to another country in the East Africa region based on feasibility assessments, operational requirements, and local needs evaluations.
